I haven’t been here (other that to share the best bits of the M’s each week) for what feels like for EVER. I’ve missed you.
There are a few reasons why I haven’t been blogging, but mostly that thing called Work got in the way. I had a concert to organise and rehearse for, which included the world premier performance of our school brass band. It was beyond brilliant (if I do say so myself) but took a whole lot of time. And energy.
For mostly the same reasons, I haven’t been running for weeks. This isn’t in itself a problem. Except then I realised yesterday that I have eight weeks – 8 WEEKS!!! – to learn how to run 13.1 miles.
Today I tried resetting my training schedule to start now & get me ready for the Great North Run on 16th September. It tried to tell me that the earliest I should attempt a half marathon was the 22nd October.
So, I ignored it and googled for an eight week half marathon plan. I found one, printed it out and set off for my first run.
Sometimes I really astound myself with my stupidity. Only mad dogs and English men go out in the midday sun. And apparently me.
Clearly, I am not going to make it to the finish line in eight weeks without some form of help. And so I’m asking you guys – do you have any training tips? Have you done a long distance run and have any tips to stay motivated? Can you spare a few quid and spur me on?
Any help, advice, kick up the arse, sponsorship will be gratefully received.
