making my mind off it

Yesterday was Mum’s birthday.

It was a hard day, but after feeling so low earlier this week, I was determined to do something positive to mark the day.

Mum was amazingly talented with needles, be they knitting, embroidery or sewing. Last weekend I acquired several half knitted projects to finish. But that’s a tale for another day.

I recently got my sewing mojo on, and after a couple of very successful cushions I felt ready for something else. Kelly (who is amazeballs at this sewing lark) pointed me in the direction of the sweet little dress from Leila and Ben.

Mum’s birthday felt like the appropriate time. Instead of sitting and feeling sad, I channelled all of Mum’s sewing energy and made Little M a dress.

I’m really rather pleased with my first attempt at actual proper sewing. It fits and everything! Unfortunately I have yet to get a photo of it being worn as Little M is at home poorly today and currently rocking the PJs and blanket look. On the upside, it does mean I may get to make Big M’s dress today.

I think Mum would be proud. I know I am.

UPDATE: Little M felt she wanted a change from pjs. She may be poorly but she’s rocking the robots.
